What is Too Hot to Be Cool?
Too Hot to Be Cool (THTBC) is a volunteer-run rock event series in Tokyo that connects live music with climate action. We believe concerts are more than entertainment: they’re a space where culture, community, and activism collide.
Since April 2024, we’ve been bringing together Tokyo’s vibrant rock scene and turning it into a force for good. Every show raises funds for nonprofits working on the frontlines of the climate crisis in Southeast Asia.
How does it work?

We put on a show with local rock bands in Tokyo. Three times a year, all volunteer performers.

You book your ticket to join the fun and support the cause. Even better if you bring friends.

You get an unforgettable night of rock’n’roll and community, enhanced with climate insights.

After paying the venue fee, every yen from tickets goes to a youth-led climate NPO.
Our achievements so far

Fighting for climate justice and environmental protection in Southeast Asia, these are the nonprofits we’ve supported so far.
Since our second edition, Too Hot to Be Cool focuses on supporting youth-led nonprofits in Southeast Asia, a region already facing severe climate impacts despite contributing far less to global emissions.
By raising funds in Tokyo and sending them to the region, we help strengthen youth climate movements and initiatives where resources are limited but the challenges are already immense.
Klima Action Malaysia drives climate action and gender equality through grassroots campaigns and policy advocacy.
